Yep she's a water Elt.
Due to the extreme deep-sea pressure, her skull/spine composed from sediment swept up by the torrent of water twisting around her. The small bits of sand/silica/stone/etc. were compressed and opalized. The result became a skeleton of Opal ranging from 6 to 20 percent water.
